Acer palmatum ‘Starfish’ is a small, upright shrubby tree growing to about 2m tall. Its reddish-purple leaves are divided into narrow, curved lobes resembling a starfish, glowing bright red in autumn. Inconspicuous purple-red flowers in spring are followed by winged red-flushed fruits, extending seasonal interest. With its unique foliage shape, it makes a striking addition to Irish borders and containers.
