Japanese Maple 'Skeeter's Broom'
Compact by maple standards and distinctly upright, Acer palmatum ‘Skeeter’s Broom’ grows to around 2m, with five-lobed leaves opening bright red, deepening to purple-red and finishing ruby-red in autumn. Its narrow habit makes it useful where a broad Japanese maple would take too much room, provided it has moist, well-drained soil and shelter from drying winds.
✅ Narrow upright form suits smaller spaces
✅ Red foliage changes through three seasons
⚠️ Leaf scorch is more likely in dry or exposed sites
(−20 to −15 °C) Very cold-hardy
