Acer palmatum ‘Katsura’ is at its best in spring, when the new leaves open yellow-orange with fine pink margins before becoming green through summer. Bright orange autumn colour gives it a second strong season. Its upright, bushy habit eventually reaches about 2.5–4m, fitting comfortably into many sheltered gardens without becoming a large tree.
