Reaching 2.5–4m tall and wide, its leaves shift to rich red in autumn, while purple spring flowers give way to red fruits in summer. Flowering in April and May, it offers colour across the seasons. Low maintenance and awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it thrives in Irish gardens with minimal care.
