Abies koreana ‘Kohout’s Icebreaker’ is a compact evergreen conifer whose tightly recurved needles reveal their bright white undersides. This creates a frosted silver-blue appearance throughout the year and gives the plant far more detail than its small size might suggest. Young specimens form dense rounded mounds, gradually developing into squat miniature trees as they mature. After ten years, plants are generally around 60cm high and wide, with an eventual height and spread of approximately 1 metre. It is well suited to rock gardens, gravel planting, raised beds and large containers. Grow it in full sun in moist but well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Its naturally tidy growth requires little or no pruning.
