Gaura lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’ Description

Gaura lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’, now classified as Oenothera lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’, forms an upright clump with narrow green leaves often flushed burgundy or bronze. Dark pink buds open into rich rose-pink butterfly-shaped flowers along slender branching stems from early summer until autumn. Mature plants generally reach around 80cm to 1 metre high and bring height without forming a dense visual block. Grow in full sun in moderately fertile soil with excellent drainage. It tolerates drought once established but can be damaged by persistent winter wet, particularly in heavy Irish clay. Avoid disturbing the deep taproot after planting. A light trim during summer encourages branching, while leaving the old stems until spring provides some protection around the crown.
