Leucanthemum × superbum ‘Snowcap’ Description

Leucanthemum × superbum ‘Snowcap’ is a dwarf Shasta daisy forming a compact clump of dark green foliage topped by numerous white flowers with bright yellow centres. The sturdy stems generally reach only around 30 to 45cm, making this cultivar particularly useful for path edges, smaller gardens and patio containers. Flowering begins in summer and can continue for several weeks when spent blooms are removed. Grow in full sun in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It is hardy and dependable in Irish gardens, although the crown dislikes prolonged winter saturation. The flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects and can also be cut for indoor arrangements. Divide older clumps in spring or autumn when the centre becomes congested or flowering begins to decline.
