Lavandula stoechas ‘Tiara’ Description

Lavandula stoechas ‘Tiara’ is a distinctive butterfly lavender with aromatic grey-green foliage and dark purple cylindrical flower heads crowned by pale cream to white bracts. The contrasting colours create a particularly noticeable display from late spring into summer. Grow in full sun in poor to moderately fertile soil that drains very freely. It is ideal for containers, gravel gardens and raised beds where water cannot collect around the roots. Like most Spanish lavender, it is less frost hardy than Lavandula angustifolia and can be damaged by prolonged cold or saturated winter ground. In Ireland, choose a sheltered position or overwinter container plants under protection. Deadhead regularly and trim lightly after flowering without cutting into old bare wood.
