Kolkwitzia amabilis ‘Pink Cloud’ Description

Kolkwitzia amabilis ‘Pink Cloud’ is a selected form of beauty bush with masses of richer pink flowers than the species. Bell-shaped blooms crowd the arching stems in late spring and early summer, each with a contrasting yellow-orange throat. The green foliage provides a simple background and the mature branches develop attractive peeling bark. Plants generally reach around 2.5 to 3 metres high and wide, so allow plenty of room rather than trying to confine them to a narrow border. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. It is fully hardy and reliable in Irish gardens. Prune immediately after flowering if required, removing some of the oldest stems at ground level rather than shearing the whole shrub.
