Jasminum × stephanense Description

Jasminum × stephanense is a vigorous deciduous climber with slender twining stems and attractive green foliage composed of simple or divided leaves. Small pale pink flowers are produced in clusters through summer and have the sweet fragrance expected from a jasmine. Established plants can reach around 4 to 5 metres high, so provide sturdy wires, trellis or a pergola for support. Grow in full sun or light partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil that remains reasonably moist. A warm, sheltered south or west-facing position gives the best flowering and helps protect growth from severe cold. In exposed Irish gardens, some winter dieback may occur. Prune after flowering if necessary to control size and remove tangled or weak shoots.
