Jasminum polyanthum Description

Jasminum polyanthum is a vigorous evergreen to semi-evergreen climber with divided dark green foliage and exceptionally fragrant flowers. Clusters of deep pink buds open to white star-shaped blooms, often in late winter or spring when plants are grown under cover. The twining stems can extend several metres and need a trellis or hoop for support. Grow in bright light or gentle sun in fertile, well-drained compost and water regularly during active growth. A cooler period in autumn and winter helps encourage flower bud formation, but the plant should not be exposed to frost. In Ireland it is best treated as a conservatory, greenhouse or bright indoor plant rather than a permanent outdoor climber. Prune after flowering to control vigorous growth.
