Ilex × meserveae ‘Heckenpracht’ Description

Ilex × meserveae ‘Heckenpracht’ is a compact, densely branching evergreen holly bred for hedging and structural planting. Glossy dark green to blue-green leaves remain attractive throughout the year and form an effective visual screen when plants are spaced and clipped as a hedge. Mature specimens can reach around 2 to 3 metres if allowed to develop naturally, although regular trimming keeps them much lower. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It is very hardy and suitable for exposed Irish gardens once established. Small spring flowers may contribute to pollination where compatible hollies are nearby. Trim in late summer to maintain a dense hedge, and water young plants well during their first few seasons.
