Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Sarena Pink’ Description

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Sarena Pink’ forms a compact deciduous shrub with broad green foliage and dense rounded flower heads in soft rose to mid-pink shades. In acidic conditions the flowers may develop mauve or purple tones. Plants generally reach around 80cm to 1.2 metres high and wide, making them suitable for large patio pots and sheltered border fronts. Grow in partial shade or gentle morning sun in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains consistently moist but drains freely. Neutral to alkaline soil supports the clearest pink colouring. It is hardy in sheltered Irish gardens, although late frost can damage the developing flower buds. Prune lightly in spring by removing faded heads and dead stems, preserving healthy wood from the previous season.
