Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Forever & Ever Red’ Description

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Forever & Ever Red’ forms a compact rounded shrub with broad green leaves and dense mophead flowers in deep pink, crimson and red shades. Neutral to alkaline soil supports the warmest red colouring, while acidic ground may shift the blooms towards purple. Plants generally reach around 80cm to 1 metre high and wide. Its ability to flower on both older and new growth extends the season and provides a better chance of blooms after late frost. Grow in partial shade or gentle morning sun in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains consistently moist but drains freely. It is hardy in sheltered Irish gardens. Prune lightly in spring, removing only dead wood and faded flower heads.
