Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Forever & Ever Blue’ is a compact remontant hydrangea capable of flowering on both older stems and fresh growth. Rounded mophead flowers appear in clear blue shades where the soil is acidic and aluminium is available, becoming mauve or pink under more alkaline conditions. Plants generally reach around 80cm to 1 metre high and wide. Grow in partial shade or gentle morning sun in fertile, humus-rich acidic soil that remains consistently moist but drains freely. It performs well in large containers with ericaceous compost and rainwater. The repeat-flowering habit offers improved reliability after frost damage. Prune only lightly in spring, removing dead wood and faded heads, because healthy stems of different ages can all produce flowers.
