Griselinia littoralis, the New Zealand broadleaf, is a fast-growing evergreen shrub with light green oval leaves. Female plants may carry purple fruits if both sexes are grown. Large and bushy in habit, it is widely used for hedging and shelter, especially in coastal locations. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit and generally pest-free, it is one of the best hardy evergreen screens for Ireland.
