Coprosma ‘Eclipse’ Description

Coprosma ‘Eclipse’ is a compact looking-glass plant with exceptionally glossy evergreen foliage. The leaves develop deep purple and burgundy colouring with bright pink margins, creating strong contrast in containers and smaller border spaces. It forms a neat shrub approximately 50 to 70cm high and around 50cm wide. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, freely draining soil or compost. Good light strengthens the leaf colour, while protection from cold easterly winds reduces winter damage. It tolerates salt-laden air and suits mild coastal gardens, but it is only half hardy. In most parts of Ireland, container growing is safest so the plant can be moved to a bright, frost-protected position during severe winter weather.
