Ophiopogon japonicus
Blue Snake's Beard
Convallaria japonica, or Blue Snake’s Beard, is an evergreen perennial with tufts of grassy foliage and delicate bell-shaped flowers in May. Small white or lilac-tinted blooms are followed by bluish-purple berries, adding interest beyond the flowering season. With its clump-forming habit, it provides reliable groundcover in sun or shade and lends a naturalistic feel to Irish borders and underplantings.
