Clematis montana ‘Pink Perfection’ Description

Clematis montana ‘Pink Perfection’ is a vigorous deciduous climber with mid-green leaves that emerge with an attractive purple flush. Sweetly scented flowers open in shades of pink and gradually soften towards pale pink or white during late spring and early summer. Mature stems can reach around 4 to 8 metres, making this cultivar suitable for covering substantial fences, pergolas, outbuildings and mature trees. It is far too vigorous for a small obelisk or lightweight trellis. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It performs strongly in Irish gardens. No regular pruning is necessary, but excessive stems can be cut back immediately after flowering while retaining enough established growth for the following spring’s display.
