Clematis armandii is a vigorous evergreen climber with leathery, glossy dark green leaves and clusters of fragrant creamy-white flowers in early to mid spring. Given a warm wall it can reach 4 to 8m, making it useful for substantial year-round cover. In Ireland it is best reserved for a sheltered south- or west-facing position protected from cold winds.
