Warted Barberry
Berberis verruculosa, the Warted Barberry, is a spiny evergreen with dark green, glossy leaves that reveal a contrasting white underside. In spring, bright yellow flowers appear and are later followed by purple berries with a silvery bloom. Reaching medium height with a dense habit, it carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is well regarded by Irish gardeners for hedging and wildlife-friendly planting.
