Japanese Barberry 'Atropurpurea Nana'
Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea is a vigorous deciduous barberry grown chiefly for its dark reddish-purple foliage, which intensifies before turning brighter red in autumn. Small pale yellow spring flowers are followed by glossy red berries, adding a second season of interest. Usually around 1–1.5m high and wide, it makes a tough coloured shrub for sunny or partly shaded borders.
