Aquilegia ‘White Star’ Description

Aquilegia ‘White Star’ forms a clump of divided blue-green foliage, sending up branching stems of graceful pure white flowers in late spring and early summer. The long, slender spurs extend behind the petals and give the blooms their distinctive star-like shape. Growing to around 60 to 75cm, it provides useful height without becoming overly dominant and combines well with ferns, hardy geraniums and spring-flowering bulbs. Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It is hardy and generally easy to grow in Ireland. Aquilegias are often short-lived but may self-seed where conditions suit them. Remove faded stems if unwanted seedlings are a concern.
