Allium tuberosum
Chinese Chives
Allium tuberosum, known as Chinese Chives, produces clumps of edible, onion-scented leaves topped with umbels of white star-shaped flowers from summer into early autumn. Both leaves and flowers are fragrant, and the blossoms are a favourite for bees. Small to medium in size, it fits well into herb gardens, wildlife planting, or containers. Easy to grow, it brings both culinary and ornamental value to Irish gardens.
