Ajuga ‘Cordial Canary’ Description

Ajuga ‘Cordial Canary’ is a compact evergreen ground-cover perennial with small golden leaves that knit together to form a dense, low mat. Short spikes of cobalt-blue flowers appear in spring and early summer, creating a strong contrast against the bright foliage and attracting visiting pollinators. Growing to around 10 to 15cm high and spreading steadily to approximately 40cm, it is well suited to shaded border edges, banks, woodland planting and containers. Grow it in partial shade in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil. It can tolerate some sun where the ground remains damp, but strong summer sunlight may scorch the pale leaves. Trim back any untidy runners after flowering if a more contained shape is preferred.
