Lettuce green leaf mix Description

Lettuce green leaf mix contains a selection of green-leaved lettuces chosen to provide variation in shape, texture and flavour rather than one uniform cultivar. Depending on the mixture supplied, leaves may be smooth, frilled, oak-shaped or cos-like. Sow little and often from spring into late summer for a continuous harvest, cutting young leaves as required and leaving the centre of each plant to regrow. Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive soil or container compost. Regular watering keeps the leaves tender and reduces premature bolting during warm weather. Irish growing conditions generally suit lettuce well, although slugs and snails can be troublesome in damp periods. Exact leaf form, mature size and cropping speed will vary between the varieties included.
