Knautia macedonica ‘Melton Pastels’ Description

Knautia macedonica ‘Melton Pastels’ is a seed-raised selection, so flower colour naturally varies between individual plants. Rounded pincushion blooms appear in shades ranging from deep red and mauve to pink and salmon on slender branching stems from early summer into autumn. Mature plants generally reach around 70 to 90cm high and maintain an airy, informal habit. Grow in full sun in moderately fertile, freely draining soil. It combines particularly well with ornamental grasses, hardy geraniums and other meadow-style perennials and is highly attractive to pollinating insects. Deadhead regularly if continuous flowering is the priority, or leave some seed heads to mature for a more naturalistic appearance. Because this is a mixture, exact flower colour cannot be guaranteed when purchasing individual plants.
