Juniperus × pfitzeriana ‘White Splash’ Description

Juniperus × pfitzeriana ‘White Splash’ forms a hardy evergreen shrub with a spreading habit and fine, soft glaucous-green foliage. Irregular shoots emerge creamy white, producing a distinctive splashed appearance rather than uniform variegation. Mature plants generally reach around 1 metre high and 1.8 metres wide. Grow in full sun or light partial shade in ordinary, well-drained soil, including poor, sandy, rocky or chalky ground. It becomes drought tolerant once established and withstands low winter temperatures well. The main limitation in Irish gardens is heavy, persistently wet soil, which junipers dislike. Use on banks, in mixed conifer borders or as a broad evergreen specimen. Pruning is rarely necessary and should be restricted to young leafy growth if required.
