Juniperus × pfitzeriana ‘Gold Coast’ Description

Juniperus × pfitzeriana ‘Gold Coast’ is a spreading evergreen juniper with soft, feathery foliage that emerges bright golden yellow and remains colourful throughout the year. The branches develop a broad, layered habit, eventually forming a substantial low shrub around 1 metre high and 1.5 to 2 metres wide. Grow in full sun to maintain the richest gold colouring, although light partial shade is tolerated. It adapts to most well-drained soils, including relatively poor, sandy and chalky ground, and becomes drought tolerant once established. It is fully hardy and useful for exposed or coastal Irish gardens where drainage is reliable. Pruning is rarely necessary. If growth needs restricting, trim only the younger leafy shoots and avoid cutting back into old bare branches.
