Fargesia murielae ‘Ivory Ibis’ Description

Fargesia murielae ‘Ivory Ibis’ is an evergreen umbrella bamboo with upright green canes, pale ivory-coloured culm sheaths and fine leaves that arch gently as the clump matures. It spreads slowly from the base rather than producing invasive running rhizomes, making it suitable for screening, woodland borders and substantial containers. Mature plants generally reach around 2.5 to 3 metres high and develop a softly fountain-shaped outline. Grow in partial shade or sun where the roots can remain cool, using fertile soil that is moist but well drained. It is fully hardy and dependable in Ireland, although strong exposed wind may scorch the foliage. Water regularly during establishment and mulch each spring. Older canes can be removed at ground level to reveal the younger stems and refresh the clump.
