Eucryphia cordifolia, also known as Ulmo, is a tall evergreen tree valued for its fragrant summer flowers. Growing up to 15–20m, it carries leathery green leaves with silver undersides and in late summer produces white blooms 4–5cm across. Broad and upright in habit, it suits sheltered Irish gardens, where its long-lasting fragrance and low-maintenance nature are a real asset.
