Dahlia ‘XXL Tabasco’ Description

Dahlia ‘XXL Tabasco’ produces very large, densely layered flowers with pointed petals streaked and blended in shades of orange, red and yellow. The warm colouring creates a fiery effect from summer until frost, while the compact upright plant remains manageable in patio containers and border fronts. Grow it in full sun in fertile, moisture-retentive but freely draining soil or compost. Water regularly at the base, feed during active flowering and remove fading blooms to encourage replacements. Although the stems are sturdy, a sheltered position protects the oversized flowers from strong Irish wind and prolonged rain. The tubers are frost tender and should be lifted and stored dry, or the entire container moved into a cool frost-free place for winter.
