Dahlia ‘XXL Merida’ Description

Dahlia ‘XXL Merida’ is a compact, upright dahlia producing exceptionally large fully double flowers, often approaching 15cm across. The layered petals combine salmon and pink shades with contrasting paler colouring, creating a soft bicoloured display from summer into autumn. Plants generally remain around 40 to 45cm high and wide, providing dramatic flowers without the height of traditional dinnerplate dahlias. Grow in full sun in fertile, moisture-retentive but freely draining soil or compost. Regular watering, feeding and deadheading will keep new flowers developing until frost. Protect the broad blooms from exposed winds and prolonged heavy rain. This cultivar is frost tender and its tubers should be stored in a dry, frost-free place through the Irish winter.
