Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Symphony Purple’ Description

Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Symphony Purple’ is a compact annual producing finely divided, feathery green foliage and an abundance of purple daisy-shaped flowers. Its light, branching habit brings movement to summer borders, cottage planting and patio containers without occupying the space required by taller traditional cosmos. Plants generally reach around 40cm and flower from early or midsummer until autumn frost. Grow in full sun in moderately fertile, well-drained soil or compost. Excessive feeding can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers. Water container plants regularly and remove faded blooms to encourage further buds. This cosmos is frost tender and should not be planted outdoors in Ireland until the danger of late spring frost has passed.
