Camellia reticulata ‘Dream Girl’ Description

Camellia reticulata ‘Dream Girl’ is more accurately a hybrid between Camellia sasanqua and a Camellia reticulata cultivar. It forms a vigorous, upright evergreen shrub with dark green foliage and exceptionally large flowers, which may reach around 15cm across. The early blooms are pale to salmon pink, with irregular waved petals held partly upright around visible golden stamens. Grow in partial shade in fertile, humus-rich acidic soil with excellent drainage. Because of its reticulata parentage, it appreciates more warmth and shelter than many Camellia japonica cultivars. In Ireland, choose a mild coastal garden, protected courtyard or warm wall and shield the flower buds from severe frost and cold drying winds.
