Buddleja ‘Butterfly Candy Purple’ Description

Buddleja ‘Butterfly Candy Purple’ forms a compact, well-branched deciduous shrub reaching approximately 1 metre high and wide. Narrow grey-green leaves provide a restrained background for cone-shaped clusters of rich purple flowers produced from midsummer onwards. The lightly fragrant blooms are rich in nectar and attract butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects. Plant it in full sun in fertile, freely draining soil, using a generous container where garden space is limited. Once established it tolerates short dry periods, but container-grown specimens need regular watering and feeding. Cut the previous year’s growth back firmly in early spring, after severe frost has passed, to maintain its dense shape and encourage a fresh flowering framework.
