Acer palmatum ‘Orangeola’ Description

Acer palmatum ‘Orangeola’ is a cascading laceleaf maple with finely divided foliage and a long sequence of changing colours. New leaves open orange-red in spring, darken to reddish-green through summer and are often joined by fresh orange growth later in the season. A final display of brighter orange and red develops in autumn. The arching branches create a rounded mound, generally reaching around 3 metres tall and 1.5 to 2.5 metres wide. This graceful habit works particularly well on a bank, beside water, in a raised bed or as a feature in a large container. Grow it in moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, protected from strong wind. Regular watering is especially important while container-grown plants are in active leaf.
